2000 Annual Report Executive Summary
North Delta Mississippi Enterprise Community
Calendar year 2000 was, by far, the most significant year yet for North Delta Mississippi Enterprise Community. From stellar work in race relations to the purchase of a bank for partnering and extending the field of service of a local federal credit union, to a best practices award in credit access testing from HUD, the EC prospered in many ways.
The EC’s emphasis on community and grass roots input continued. Partnerships, both new and old, yielded added leverage to EC efforts.
Many of the same old problems remained. Poverty, racism, and its vestiges and the problems inherent in rural life continue to plague the EC. We continue, and have pledged to continue to struggle in new and innovative ways to deal with these and other EC area problems.
