2001 Annual Executive Summary

Lake County Enterprise Community

The EC has focused on moving the housing initiatives to the top of its agenda. Six new construction single family units were built and placed on the market over the last seven months. Plans are underway to construct six additional units over the next six months. Site acquisition has been accomplished. More single family, affordable units will follow over the next several years. Rental housing needs are being addressed with the construction of a twenty four unit complex in the EC area.  It has been six years since the EC designation was made in Lake County. We can confidently say, “Look around Lake County, EC has worked.” We have new businesses, more employment opportunities, new and improved sewer facilities, 21st Century Classrooms for the community and local Health Care Providers. Lake County infrastructure, ( ie,: water, sewer, gas, streets, roads and bridge improvements) have benefited these past six years. A hundred thousand dollar IRP loan to improve and expand the variety store in the Black Historic Community of Idlewild is a notable community improvement because it addresses a critical need for the low income residents in the area. The EC produced a video which is now on CD that we are using to promote and market Lake County.
