2003 Annual Executive Summary
Lake County Enterprise Community
This year was
once again a very active one for the units of government, groups and individuals
that are a part of the Lake County “EC” project.
Even though we have been at
this for 9 years and have accomplished a majority of action items, we continue
to benefit from the lessons learned about what a community can accomplish if it
proceeds with a well thought out plan that leverages existing resources and uses
partnering whenever possible. We continue to build on our past success as we
look for continued improvement in the quality of life for all residents in and
around the “EC” area. Our infrastructure continues to improve with the
completion of the Village of Baldwin streetscape project, expansion and
upgrading of the Village of Baldwin water system, the construction of 6 new
homes in Yates Township, and the construction of the 24 unit Duvernay Park
Apartments in Yates Township. Harris Reel, Save-a-Lot, and Dollar General are
new businesses that have added jobs.
The Jazz Festival and new exhibits and
programs at the Idlewild Historic Cultural Center have increased the focus on
the rich history of the community.
