1999 Annual Report Executive Summary
Macon Ridge Enterprise Community
Macon Ridge Enterprise Community's 1999 annual report is virtually a carbon copy of our 1998 report. Every day we fall further and further behind the rest of the State of Louisiana and the United States. Even while the rapid growth of the Internet and the information technology age occurs almost daily, we cannot catch up. This is the consequence of decades of neglect. Poverty and illiteracy are two things which cannot be corrected immediately. We continue to have to spend time and meager and finite resources to rebuild and expand our own infrastructure for economic development and industrial recruiting and retention, and for community development and facilities.
Our problems are deep-rooted and will take decades to erase. Yet, even with small resources, we continue to make real progress through our small business development loan programs which are creating new business and creating or preserving jobs.
