As defined by the ARRA, a “recovery zone” includes the designated EZ and RC communities. This call will feature Tim Jones of the IRS, who is a specialist in tax exempt bonds. Mr. Jones will offer an overview of the Recovery Zone Bonds, which must be issued by eligible communities before January 1, 2011. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) hosted a webcast on October 11, 2007, from 2-4 p.m. EST. This was recorded and will be available for viewing.
A panel of IRS experts provide an overview of the $11 billion package of tax incentives available to eligible businesses in Renewal Communities (RCs) and Empowerment Zones (EZs) and updates on changes to these incentives. These tax incentives include employment credits, work opportunity tax credits, commercial revitalization deductions, increased Section 179 deductions, and other incentives.
