U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development Sandy K. Rural Renewal Counties (RRC) Information: The Small Business and Work Opportunity Tax Act of 2007, which extended the WOTC program to August 31, 2011, includes a new designation, called Rural Renewal County. For more information please visit www.irs.gov/instructions/i8850/index.html.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) hosted a webcast on October 11, 2007, from 2-4 p.m. EST. This was recorded and will be available for viewing.
A panel of IRS experts provide an overview of the $11 billion package of tax incentives available to eligible businesses in Renewal Communities (RCs) and Empowerment Zones (EZs) and updates on changes to these incentives. These tax incentives include employment credits, work opportunity tax credits, commercial revitalization deductions, increased Section 179 deductions, and other incentives.
